CPSIA - Quote of the Day

In the latest issue of Newsweek, Peter G. Peterson credits Herb Stein, former Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisors in the Nixon Administration with the following quote: "If your horse dies, I suggest you dismount."

Do you think he was talking about the CPSIA???

I would give the award to Nancy Nord:

"it is important that we continue to struggle to give meaning to this provision, on the theory that Congress would not knowingly enact a meaningless provision."

She couldn't be serious. Of course, she did call it a theory, not a fact that Congress would not knowingly enact a meaningless provision.

But if it had meaning then why would the CPSC have to give it meaning?

Is this double speak?

My very, very favorite thing to do is to see what is for sale at yard sales in my own little neighborhood.

CPSIA - you must be joking! It is nonexistent with regards to laymen.

I am seriously thinking about copying the booklet that tells about selling at "yard sales" and posting it to a website here in suburban NYC.

Being in the toy business I am beginning to believe that the only purpose of this law is so that suits can be brought against retailers and manufacturers.

You know, in this bad economy one has to make a living....
